Student Action has a new website!
But this is far more than a lick of paint: all of our projects are now run by a custom made Volunteer Management System, which allows project managers and volunteers access to all the information they need wherever they are, as well as online sign up and an entirely paperless operation.Our dedicated team is also available to provide graphics design and online solutions for your organisation. Street Support
Thursday and Sunday 6.30pm to 9pm
Now back at the ever popular Store street, also home to the much beloved WHP.
Meet at the staff room of the union for 6.30pm and we make a whole load of sandwiches and soup, aiming to leave the union for 7pm. Into the Action Bus and off to setup the soup and sandwiches on our trolley/table and serve food, information and friendly banter until 9pm when we pack up and return to the union. Clean down the kitchen and relax.
Our project manager is Jack Burke and Anna Kelly. We do need a driver for this project so if you are interested contact me!
Outreach
Sunday to Thursday 6.30pm to 9pm
Armed with hot drinks and sandwiches, this project is all about trotting around the centre of Manchester handing out much need supplies and advice to the homeless. Don't worry as you will always be accompanied by an experienced coordinator.
Meet at the staff room of the SU and the co-ordinators will be able to show you all around Manchester.
Shoe Box Appeal
Running now until 12th December 2011We will be distributing special Christmas gift boxes to rough sleepers in Manchester City Centre. We are asking students to donate items that could fit in a shoebox!
We are asking for the following donations:
· Underwear
· Socks
· Toothbrushs/toothpaste
· Gloves, Hat and Scarf
· Deodorant
· Shower gel
· Soap
· Flannel
· Hair Brush
· Aftershave/perfume
· Playing Cards
Or any other items that would fit inside a Shoebox!
In these freezing temperatures we are also desperate for jumpers, coats, blankets, sleeping bags and any warm clothes!
