Who we are

Do exactly what it says on the tin. We’re a group of students taking action to improve our local community through volunteering our skills and our free time (lets face it, we have enough of it!). We run loads of fun, rewarding projects so what are you waiting for? Get involved!

Website

Student Action has a new website!

But this is far more than a lick of paint: all of our projects are now run by a custom made Volunteer Management System, which allows project managers and volunteers access to all the information they need wherever they are, as well as online sign up and an entirely paperless operation.

Our dedicated team is also available to provide graphics design and online solutions for your organisation. For business enquiries please contact action@umsu.manchester.ac.uk.

Project Managers needed who will help you have a great all expenses paid evening out. Whether you have drinks at the Hilton, or just a good feeding at Pizza Hut.

Josh Rowan  is the project manager for Wednesdays.

Anna Kelly is the project manager for Mondays.

Ladybarn Project

Tuesday 6pm to 9pm

Taking a group of rowdy young adults with learning difficulties out every Tuesday for an evening of fun and games! From bowling to going to the cinema, visiting a fire station to going to the snow dome, you name it and we’ve probably done it. With evenings of arts and crafts as well, it gives the members a great time together and a great opportunity to just chill out! A personal high last year was going to see a pantomime at the Opera House and our very own play.

The project managers are David Ward and Ronan McGarrigle.

Saturday Stars

Saturdays from 11am to 5pm.

Sandwiches are made and a healthy lunch provided for the kids and volunteers. The team will normally take the kids to the park because they always love it, and then off on other exciting activities, like the snow dome, or Halifax's' Eureka centre!
