Since its inception in 1958, the Bangladesh Students’ Society, Manchester (BSS) has acted as a homely place for Bengali speaking students and those who are interested on the language and culture of beautiful country, Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a picturesque country in South Asia on the tip of the Bay of Bengal. We have a very rich cultural heritage, and are famous for our literature, music, food, and not to mention, the Royal Bengal Tiger.

The Bangladeshi people are known for their hospitality, especially to the foreigners. However, we sometimes feel that Bangladesh is not as well represented in the UK as it could have been. We at the BSS are trying to create a platform where people can come and exchange their views about Bangladesh, so that they get to know the country better. The BSS organizes a variety of programmes throughout the year including freshers' reception, cultural functions, day trips etc. We also try to observe various days of our national significance, and the boundary of our activities keeps expanding every year.
