• Professor Almond - Moral and social philosophy at Hull University

This event will address one of the most important revolutionary changes facing the West: the replacement of the traditional family by a whole range of alternative relationships including unmarried couples, singe sex relationships and polygamous relationships. Are the new forms of relationships able to fill the gap left by the traditional family in terms of nurturing loving relationships and above all bringing up children? Is there a link between the break-down of the traditional family and social dysfunction, such as the increasing numbers of teenage pregnancies and school dropout rates?
