We will be running a trip to Pocklington this Sunday (1st November). Leaving from outside the Students Union building on Oxford Road at 7am and returning at about 8pm. If you would like to come please leave your name and contact number in the comments by 9pm Thursday.
This page will be updated on Friday with a final list of people who have a place, in case we are oversubscribed.
See the “new members checklist” for some idea of what to bring, and remember that it can get very cold on the airfield at this time of year so bring hats/gloves and plenty of layers.

We have transport organised for a trip on the 24th October. If you would like to come please leave your name and contact number in the comments thread below.
We will leave from the front of the Students Union Building on Oxford Road at 7am and return at around 8pm. You will need to bring your membership card (if you do not have one then just bring your £25 membership money and we will sign you up on the day). You will also need money for your flying and lunch etc.
Remember to bring lots of warm clothing as the airfield can get very cold even if the day is not too bad here in manchester. Bring a hat and gloves. Check the new members checklist on the site for more details of what to bring.
Update: All spaces on this trip are now full. We will be posting details of the next trip soon so keep checking back.
Update 2: Just to confirm for Saturday, the following people have a place on the bus. We are limited by the number of people we are allowed to have flying on any one day so unfortunately if you are not on this list you will not be able to fly. Any problems give me a call on 07890287719.

Just a final note on the details for tomorrow.
You can arrive any time between 9am and 4pm to fly but try to be earlier in the day if you can.
I will be driving the bus over leaving Manchester at 6.45am. If you want a lift at that time then send me a text or call on 07890287719. For the rest of the day I will be driving back and forth between the airfield and York rail station and I will try to be outside for each of the Manchester trains. It would help if you could let me know your approximate arrival time either in the comments thread here or by text so I can judge the numbers to wait for. I will try to be as obvious as possible but may not be able to wait right outside so look out for a blue minibus. I will also put a sign in the window.
When you get to the airfield there will be signs up directing you to the office. The best place to park is behind the clubhouse and this should be obvious from where there are other cars. Let the office staff know you are here from the University and they will direct you to the launch point.
If you have any problems/questions put a comment here or give me a call.

Following the cancellation of last weekend’s open day due to inclement weather, we are going to run the open day this Saturday (10th October) instead. The arrangements will remain exactly the same as they were going to be for the original date and they are written below.
We will be running an open day at the airfield with the aim of getting as many people flown as possible. If you come along and join up on the Open Day your first trial flight will be included in the membership cost.
Because of the number of people we hope to fly, travel arrangements are more complicated than usual. Firstly if you can get to the airfield under your own steam then driving directions are on the website and please feel free to arrive at any time between 9am and 4pm and we will get you a flight. If you do not have a car then we intend to be running a shuttle bus from York Rail Station throughout the day. Travel to York from Manchester Victoria Station takes about 2 hours and if you have a student railcard you can get advance tickets from www.tpexpress.co.uk for less than £5.
If you would like to come (especially if you will be arriving by train) please leave a comment below this post. Once we have a good idea of the numbers involved we will fill up an approximate timetable for the bus to avoid people having long waits at the station or the airfield.
Normal 1 and 2 day trips will start from next week.
If there is anything I have missed just send us and email or leave a comment and we will get back to you.

Unfortunately the weather forecast for tomorrow is showing Gale force winds for the area around the airfield. It has been decided to CANCEL tomorrows Open Day. We hope to move the event to the same time next weekend and will put another post up as soon as that is confirmed.
Sorry Guys!

If anybody is feeling creative over the next few weeks, how about putting together a design for some promotional material to hand out at freshers’ fair?
We will need leaflets, posters and anything else you think might get people interested in the society! It would also be good to have some t-shirts for people to wear on the stand, so think up some ideas for them too!
Post any thoughts here or email them to us!

With just a few days to go before the start of the Inter-Uni Task Week we need to make final plans.
If you are planning to come along for any part of the week let me know ASAP. More importantly, due to lack of numbers I am not currently planning to drive via Manchester. Please get in contact (just leave a comment here) by Thursday evening at the latest if you need a lift on Friday.
Space in Bunk Rooms/Club Caravan is expensive and likely to be in short supply so bring a tent if you have one.
Polo Shirts will be available if you want one. They must be ordered by Monday so if you are planning to arrive later in the week but want one, let me know and I will put in an order for you. White polos with two single colour prints are £8.75 + VAT each (£10.07 inc. VAT?)
Right breast personalisation is optional for £1 extra. See the design below.
