MDU Alumni

Hello!

Welcome to the alumni section of the MDU website. We thank the following for sponsoring teams to IVs this year: Sivaraja Sivanesan, Richard Moore and Elizabeth Ford.

Alumni Sponsorship

After a successful response to our ‘One Team, to One IV’ alumni sponsorship trial, we are pleased to extend this invitation to all of our alumni. All that we ask of you is that you sponsor one team to one IV of your choice. You can specify the type of team (for example, a novice team) if you prefer, as well.

It really is a case of ‘every little helps’ – every team we can send with your help means that we can afford to send more teams to more IVs so a greater number of people have access to debating and the reputation of the MDU is boosted as well. If you are interested in sending a team, please feel free to choose an IV from the list below. If you do not mind which IV you sponsor, please feel free to make a general donation to the society. We will, of course, keep you up to date on the progress of your team – above and beyond the information which is usually available through our newsletter (see below).

To sponsor a team, you can pay by a variety of methods:

• By Paypal
• By standing order (please contact the treasurer for our bank details)
• By cheque made payable to the Manchester Debating Union. (Our address is here)

Alumni Activities page

We are hoping to organise an alumni dinner and an ‘old boys’ debate. If you would be interested in either of these, or have suggestions for other activities, please contact Liz Ford (our alumni contact).

If you find yourself in Manchester on a Tuesday or a Thursday evening, please feel free to pop down to watch the public debate or participate in training. We would be delighted to see you. Again, if you have any queries at all about this, please contact Liz Ford.

As you may know, we also hold our own IV and schools competition. The details are on the relevant pages, but if you wished to come along, please just let us know and we will send you any details you require.
