Upcoming Events:

Samatha meditation classes restart on Thursday January 19th - a chance to escape revision for a couple of hours!

The Monday classes will restart in February once exams are over, exact dates to be announced soon.

The Buddhist Society is for ALL who have an interest in either Buddhism or its related areas, such as various forms of meditation.

We are not affiliated to any particular Buddhist tradition, though we support and promote all. We have come from different backgrounds, and some of the members are not even Buddhists (and that's perfectly all right).

We organise weekly meditation classes and invite external speakers to give talks related to Buddhism.

Besides these, we occasionally show Buddhist films and do other activities related to Buddhism, conduct meditation retreats for all interested and organise visits to Buddhist centres mainly in Greater Manchester.

Membership of our society is free and open to all, students and non-students, from Manchester University and also other universities, Buddhist and non-Buddhist. People with an interest in Buddhism or meditation or those just curious to know more, are welcome to attend any of our activities. (You don't have to be a member to join our activities)

You do NOT have to be a Buddhist to benefit from Buddhist teachings as it is not a system of blind submission.

We also have a Facebook group, which you can find here - feel free to join us!
