You'll probably have seen the words "non-directive" or "confidential" a good number of times around this site, but what do those words actually mean in a Nightliney context?
- Confidential: All calls made to Nightline are strictly confidential. Anything said to the Nightliner on the other end of the phone stays there, what you say goes no further than them.
- Anonymous: Callers are not required to give any identifying details out over the phone, but they can if they wish to. How much or how little the Nightliner knows is entirely up to the caller.
On the other hand, a Nightliner must also remain anonymous to a caller.
- Non-Judgemental: The Nightliner on the other end of the phone will not judge a caller, nor will they hold any prejudices or impose any views upon a caller.
We are not affiliated with any religious, political or cultural group, and are willing to listen and accept the views of all callers.
- Non-Directive: A Nightliner will not tell a caller what to do or even try to push them towards a guided course of action.
They will however try to help the caller make their own conclusions and decisions.
- Non-Advisory: Nightline is not a helpline as such.
We don't give out advice but, if requested, we can pass on accurate and factual information from a number of trusted sources.
