FTP
From Clusters
The best FTP client installed on cluster machines is the one
as part of exceed, avilable as
Programs - Core -> Network and Email -> Exceed -> Host Access -> FTP. The details you need to enter are
Servername : waldo.umu.man.ac.uk
Username :
Password :
Then click "open".
This will allow you to drag and drop items from that machine (including your
P drive) to your Waldo account. Please remember that webpages should go
in the directory pubwww.
From Elsewhere
You can use any ftp client you wish. A good graphical client is WSftp (you will want to get the free version -- it does everything you will need).
Getting a copy of your site
If your ftp client supports recursively copying directories, then you
want to grab the pubwww directory out of your home directory (pubwww
being what the webserver sees as http://www.umu.man.ac.uk/username ).
If it doesn't, the easiest way to get it is to login and type the command
zip -r website.zip pubwww
from your home directory which will create a zip file called
website.zip which you can then download easily using ftp (login, and
type the command get website.zip .
