Mail
Sending and receiving your society's email
- Log in with your username and password to Webmail
- Or log in via SSH or Telnet client and type 'pine' - more help is available within the email client itself
- Forward mail to the personal email accounts of one or more of your committee by creating a file called .forward (the dot at the front is important), and in it, putting the email addresses you want mail to go to
- Forward to multiple addresses by putting commas between them: a.student@stud.man.ac.uk, joe.bloggs@hotmail.com
- Configuring Webmail to permit 'From Addresses'
- Please remember to delete the forwarding before you leave the society
- If you have a domain hosted on Waldo, you are able to do things with
all addresses in that domain. Here's how
- We also offer POP3 and IMAP support over SSL only.
Dealing with offensive email
- The best thing to do is delete it
- If you get it repeatedly, or it particularly upsets you, send a copy with all headers to root@umu.man.ac.uk and we'll look into it
- Don't send offensive mail from Waldo - there is a strict Acceptable Use Policy
Procmail
Procmail is installed for your use if you know what it is and wish to use it.
You should set up a .forward file to send mail through procmail
The services described here are for University of Manchester Students' Union registered societies only. All requests must be made from yoursociety@umsu.man.ac.uk to root@umsu.man.ac.uk.
