Union Council

Union Council is the sole representative of the student body of the University of Manchester. Council controls the property and premises of the Union and is responsible for the management of the Union generally. Council recognises and oversees the running of student societies.

• The 61 members of Council (which includes the Executive positions) are mainly elected by cross-campus ballot of the Union membership
• Meetings are held every three weeks in term time
• Meetings are open to all members of the Students' Union as observers
• First semester: meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the first semester and then every third Tuesday
• Second semester: meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the second semester and then every third Tuesday
